Aaron Putnam is a touring stand-up comedian whose comedy is equal parts brutally honest, self-deprecating, and unexpectedly heartfelt. Originally cutting his teeth in the New York City comedy scene after studying improv at the legendary Upright Citizens Brigade, Aaron eventually traded the bright lights of Manhattan for the grit and soul of Chicago, where he now calls the legendary Laugh Factory home.
Known for turning life's hardest moments into some of its funniest stories, Aaron's comedy pulls from recovery, marriage, family, and the beautiful chaos of simply trying to be a better human. His ability to be vulnerable without losing his edge has made him a favorite with audiences across the country.
Aaron is also the founder of Stand Up in Recovery, an organization that brings comedy shows directly into treatment centers nationwide, using laughter as a tool for healing, connection, and hope. What started as a passion project has become one of the accomplishments he's most proud of.
Over the years, Aaron has shared the stage with comedy heavyweights including Doug Stanhope, Robert Kelly, Erik Griffin, Rich Vos, and Bonnie McFarlane while performing at clubs, festivals, and theaters throughout the United States.
A lifelong fan of punk rock, underground culture, and doing things his own way, Aaron brings the same DIY spirit to his comedy that inspired generations of musicians before him. Whether he's performing in New York City, Chicago, or somewhere in between, Aaron's goal remains the same: tell the truth, make people laugh, and leave the room feeling a little less alone.
